What is the difference between Personal and Work?
Compare what each schedule type records and when to use it.
4 min read
Personal and Work do not indicate how important a schedule is. Choose the type based on what you need to record and how you want to use it later.
Personal schedules
Personal is a good fit for appointments, errands, medical visits, workouts, and other plans that only need a few details. It is designed for quick entry around a title.
- Title
- Date and time
- Location
- Checklist items
- Notes
- A date range or repeat
Work schedules
Use Work when you need to keep customer details, job records, amounts, or assignees with a schedule. The form you choose controls which fields and record-keeping tools are available.
- Use Quick form to record only a title, location, checklist items, and notes.
- Use a custom work form for customer details, addresses, amounts, and fields you define.
- Depending on the form, use checklists, timers, and before-and-after photos.
- Preview and share a document or PDF from supported completed work schedules.
- Assign team members and use shared forms in a team calendar.
How calendars affect the schedule type
- My Calendar can contain both personal and work schedules.
- Team calendars can contain work schedules only.
- A work schedule saved to My Calendar remains your private schedule and is not shared with a team.
A quick way to choose
- 01
A title and time are enough
Use Personal for appointments, workouts, medical visits, and everyday tasks.
- 02
It is work, but the record can stay simple
Use Work with Quick form for errands, simple jobs, or a basic team task.
- 03
You need the same details every time
Choose a work form when you need customer information, inspection results, amounts, or photos.
- 04
Several people need to see it
Select a team calendar, create a work schedule, and choose its assignees.
You can edit a saved schedule later, but changing the form on an existing work schedule can clear its work records. If you have already entered information, review the form-change notice first.
