Use a Template for Boiler Repair Visits

Use ILJI’s boiler form to separate reported symptoms from agreed work, adding model and piping details when needed.

“There is no hot water” does not always describe the same job. Kiturami’s winter guidance distinguishes a running boiler that produces no hot water from a property with no cold water either. It directs attention to the boiler’s connected piping in the first case and water supply pipes or the meter in the second. The reported symptom alone may not establish the scope before a winter visit.

Kiturami also distinguishes who should respond. A frozen water meter is a matter for the local water utility; frozen valves or pipes may require building management or a plumbing contractor. Suspected freezing inside the boiler or heating circuit should be discussed with the manufacturer’s service center. When handling winter calls, identify the scope of your visit and the next responsible party. ILJI’s Heater/Boiler template includes equipment type, fuel, brand and capacity, along with Symptoms and Additional work. Symptoms include heating failure, no hot water, noise and leakage. Additional work includes manifold replacement and pipe cleaning. Keep the reported problem separate from the work accepted. You can start with this built-in form as it is.

Separate Equipment Problems From Installation and Piping Issues

In its 2025 report, the Korea Consumer Agency stated that 330 of 584 boiler-related dispute-resolution applications, or 56.5%, occurred from December through March. Equipment defects and installation complaints were classified separately.

  • Dispute reason: Equipment defects; Share of all 584 applications: 361 cases (61.8%); Common detail within that reason: Heating or hot-water failure: 56.5% of the 361 defect cases
  • Dispute reason: Installation complaints; Share of all 584 applications: 164 cases (28.1%); Common detail within that reason: Incorrect installation of major parts such as pipes or flues: 69.5% of the 164 installation cases

They illustrate why responsibility may differ between the product, installation and piping, consistent with manufacturer guidance.

If You Take Over a Manufacturer’s Service Request

If you often visit after a manufacturer has taken the initial call, consider text fields for Model number and Displayed error. Daesung Celtic’s request form separates product group, model, reported symptom and detailed symptom; Rinnai also says a model number helps with service consultation. Sources: https://www.celtic.co.kr/?act=mypage.my_as&bbs_mode=write&ch=customer and https://old25.rinnai.co.kr/service/as_accept.asp An error code is not a confirmed diagnosis or replacement part. Navien explains that E03 ignition failure can also occur when a closed gas meter prevents fuel supply. Rinnai’s R331N manual includes leaks in the boiler, heating pipes or manifold and insufficient air purging after installation among checks for error 17. Keep the reported display separate from the cause confirmed on site. Options to Add When You Also Handle Piping

Kiturami advises keeping the boiler’s freeze-protection function active and insulating cold-water, hot-water, heating-water and condensing drain pipes separately. Boiler inspection and exposed-pipe work may be different jobs. Source: https://krb.co.kr/index.php?act=route&document_srl=19699&identifier=cs_map01.php&mapnum=7&mid=pr&page=18&type=customer If you perform thawing or insulation work, add Pipe thawing and Insulation replacement to Additional work. If the section matters, add choices for Cold water, Hot water, Heating and Condensate. Distinguish restored flow from finishing the insulation: Kiturami’s thawing guidance says to replace insulation removed during the work once hot water flows again. Source: https://krb.co.kr/pr/9588 Restoring existing insulation and replacing damaged material are different actions. Select only the work actually done. The confirmed leak location may also change responsibility. Rinnai directs boiler-body leaks to an engineer and external pipe or flue leaks to the installer or a plumbing contractor. Source: https://old25.rinnai.co.kr/mobile/service/faq_view.asp?boardnum=83 Keep the original Leakage symptom and add the confirmed location and follow-up contact in event notes. Add piping options only if you handle that work.

Creating an appointment from the boiler template (Korean-language image)
Create appointments using the form you added. If the details cannot be completed in advance, use the on-the-day entry option to fill them in as a checklist during the visit.

In ILJI, go to Form management → Built-in forms → Installation and repair → Heater/Boiler to review the fields and add the form to your own forms.

Start with the built-in structure, then add only details that recur in your work, such as manufacturer information or winter pipe work.
