Understand the device permissions ILJI requests

Learn why notifications, contacts, photos, microphone, and location are requested.

6 min read

ILJI asks for device access when you start a feature that needs it. You do not need to allow every permission at once; the connected feature may simply remain unavailable when permission is denied.

What each permission is used for

  • Notifications: Show reminders before schedules and notifications from team calendars.
  • Calendar: Import events from calendars available on the device.
  • Contacts: Choose a person on the device to fill a name and phone number in ILJI Contacts.
  • Camera and photos: Take or choose before-and-after work photos for a schedule.
  • Microphone and speech recognition: Dictate questions to ILJI AI.
  • Location: Record a starting location when you choose to use it with a work timer.
  • Phone-related access: Show names from ILJI Contacts for caller ID on Android.

Allow or change a permission

  1. 01

    Open the feature again

If access has not been requested before, instructions may appear when you start the feature.

  2. 02

    Find ILJI in device settings

If you denied access or chose not to be asked again, change it from the app's permission settings.

  3. 03

    Allow only what you need

Turn on the item connected to the feature you want to use.

  4. 04

Return to ILJI and try again

Some devices may require reopening the app before the change is reflected.

If you prefer not to allow access

  • You can still complete the other fields in a work form without photo access.
  • Enter an ILJI contact manually instead of choosing from device contacts.
  • Type an AI question instead of using dictation.
  • Import from a supported .ics file instead of granting device calendar access.
  • If your workflow does not need a start location, focus on the other timer records.
